WWE makes history this weekend. For the first time in the four-decade run of the franchise, Saturday Night’s Main Event becomes Sunday Night’s Main Event.
The special airs live Sunday, September 6, 2026, from State Farm Arena in Atlanta — Cody Rhodes’ hometown — during Labor Day weekend. The show starts at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. U.S. viewers can stream it exclusively on Peacock. International fans can watch live on YouTube.
Atlanta last hosted the event in July 2025, when Gunther retired Goldberg. This time the city gets a stacked, celebrity-tinged card that mixes personal grudges, future-of-the-company collisions, and hip-hop flavor. As always with WWE specials, the card is subject to change.
Quavo opens the show
Atlanta native Quavo will kick off the broadcast with a live performance of an unreleased track from his upcoming album QROMELIFE. Born in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Quavo first rose to fame as the frontman of Migos alongside Offset and his late nephew Takeoff. He has remained a visible WWE fan for years.
His company history dates back to WWE Day 1 in 2022, also held at State Farm Arena, when Migos’ song “Straightenin” served as the official theme and the group joined RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle) for their entrance. He later sat ringside at Bad Blood 2024 with Lil Yachty and appeared on the January 27, 2025 episode of Raw in Atlanta, walking out with Jey Uso and joining him in a “Yeet” session. Quavo has even said publicly that he wants to train, add muscle, and eventually get in the ring himself. WWE and TKO are treating Sunday’s set as a test for live music moments at bigger events.

Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton
The American Nightmare and the Legend Killer collide again in Rhodes’ backyard. Their rivalry stretches back two decades. Orton returned at SummerSlam and hit Rhodes with an RKO that helped cost him a shot at CM Punk’s Undisputed WWE Championship. On recent SmackDowns the two have brawled through arenas and traded personal shots — Orton saying Rhodes cares more about titles than family, Rhodes promising to “kill the Legend Killer by any means necessary.” No stipulation has been announced, but the match feels like it could be the start of something longer rather than a clean finish.
Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker
WWE is billing this as a battle for the company’s future. Femi, “The Ruler,” defeated Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam and has been riding that momentum. Breakker has taken exception to anyone calling Femi the next big thing. The two have never wrestled one-on-one. Many expect a hard-hitting, inconclusive finish that sets up a longer program.
Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty (5-minute time limit)
Grammy-nominated Atlanta rapper Lil Yachty makes his official in-ring debut against the United States Champion. Yachty first broke through in 2015 with the viral hit “One Night” and has since built a career as a rapper, singer, and producer. He is also a longtime wrestling fan who spent years showing up at WWE events as a spectator before crossing the rail.
His WWE role became official earlier this year when he aligned with Trick Williams as an on-screen manager. The pairing started before WrestleMania 42 after both men told WWE they did not want a one-week cameo. Yachty has since walked Williams to the ring, handed him a custom U.S. Title, and gotten physically involved — including kendo-stick shots on Ricky Saints, Sami Zayn, and Corbin. Behind the scenes he has trained at the Performance Center and worked with Ivy Nile and her husband, fitness instructor Ari Levy.
The match itself was born on SmackDown after Yachty blindsided Corbin with a Trick Stick. Corbin agreed to give Williams one more title shot only if Yachty first lasted five minutes in his hometown. If Yachty survives, Williams gets the rematch later that same night. If he does not, Corbin says the chase is over. Williams has admitted he is more nervous than Yachty about the five-minute clock.
Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley vs. Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab
A six-woman tag that bundles several ongoing SmackDown rivalries — and gives Tatum Paxley her first major main-roster match. Born on October 29, 1996, in Dallas, Paxley came to WWE without a traditional wrestling background. She was a cheerleader and a two-time USA Powerlifting Champion before a supplement sponsorship led to a 2021 tryout in Las Vegas. She signed with no prior in-ring experience and debuted in NXT in 2022.
In developmental she became known as the unpredictable “Psycho Princess,” later winning both the NXT Women’s Championship and the NXT Women’s North American Championship. She lost the North American Title to Zaria on the June 9 episode of NXT, failed to regain it on June 28, and then lost to Kelani Jordan on June 30 in her final NXT match. Her main-roster arrival came on the August 7 SmackDown, when the lights went out during Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill and Paxley appeared on the top rope, diving onto Michin and B-Fab. That save, paired with Alexa Bliss’ return, let Flair finish Cargill and created an uneasy new trio. Reports later said Flair personally requested Paxley’s call-up.
Paxley then won her first official SmackDown match on August 28, pinning Michin with the Cemetery Drive. That same night Nick Aldis booked the six-woman tag for Sunday Night’s Main Event. Flair has already joked that “three’s a crowd,” while Paxley has leaned into the chaotic chemistry. Expect the Baddies to try to isolate the newcomer.
Why this show matters
Sunday Night’s Main Event sits in an unusual spot on the calendar. WWE’s Premium Live Events have largely moved to ESPN, but this special remains part of the NBCUniversal/Peacock deal. The Atlanta setting, hometown stars (Rhodes, Quavo, Lil Yachty), and a card that balances nostalgia (Rhodes-Orton) with the next generation (Femi-Breakker, Paxley) give it the feel of a mid-sized PLE rather than a throwaway special.
Whether Lil Yachty actually lasts five minutes, whether Femi and Breakker go to a clean finish, and how far Rhodes and Orton take their war will all be answered Sunday night in Hotlanta — provided the announced lineup holds.
