Meet the Authors: Birds of the Tropical Andes | ABC Webinar

This YouTube video was produced by the American Bird Conservancy.

Spanning virtually the entire western coast of South America, the Andes mountain range is home to some of the world’s most magnificent birds, from exquisite hummingbirds to fabulous flamingos.

ABC President Michael J. Parr and bird photographer Owen Deutsch set out to capture and share the splendor and extraordinary diversity of Andean birds and their habitats. Over a period of seven years, they traveled to Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, with Owen photographing more than 200 species.

Now you, too, can marvel at the beauty of Andean birdlife and immerse yourself in their habitats in Birds of the Tropical Andes, a brand-new, large-format book full of Deutsch’s stunning photography and Parr’s illuminating essays.

Watch this webinar to hear directly from the authors about their journey to document these spectacular birds. How did they do it? What challenges did they overcome? What insights did they learn? And how are ABC and our partners working to ensure the lush alpine and forested habitats can sustain their astonishing birds?

American Bird Conservancy stands up for birds across the Americas. We halt bird extinctions, conserve vital habitats, eliminate key threats, and build the capacity of our partners.
