Malayan tiger Chira got to explore the newly-upgraded tiger habitat yesterday. The new cave area, complete with a heated floor, provided a place to get out of the rain and will be a nice, shady resting place in the summer. Other improvements include the addition of natural tree trunks to encourage climbing and scratching, an artificial tree with perching areas high and low, and built-in enrichment such as a hoist that allows treats to be lifted above the tigers to promote jumping and climbing.
