Caribou comeback: recovering Jasper’s herds | Parks Canada

This YouTube video was produced by Parks Canada.

Caribou are a species at risk of disappearing. In Jasper National Park, Parks Canada is leading a groundbreaking effort to change that.

In collaboration with Indigenous, government, academic and scientific partners, Parks Canada’s caribou conservation breeding program — the first of its kind in Canada — is working to rebuild healthy, self-sustaining caribou herds in Jasper National Park. Through caribou recovery, this iconic species will remain part of the landscape for generations to come.

This short film tells the story of resilience, partnership, and hope driving one of Canada’s most ambitious wildlife recovery initiatives.
