The Endangered Species Act may be in trouble – but that doesn’t mean we’re sitting on our paws doing nothing. Listen to our Vice President of Government Relations explain what attacks on the ESA mean for animals, the environment, and us.
Transcript:
The Endangered Species Act is America’s most effective law for protecting imperiled wildlife. Nearly all species listed under the ESA, including the Bald Eagle and Black-Footed ferret, have been saved from disappearing forever and hundreds more are on the path to recovery. Yet anti-wildlife members in Congress continue to assault the ESA and the species under its protection. While still early in the new Congress, there have already been at least 14 attacks on this bedrock wildlife law. These include attempts to delist our nation’s most iconic animals, like gray wolves and grizzly bears. And this administration is working to dismantle the law through funding and staff cuts, and policy changes. Defenders is often the last line of defense for wildlife. It is critical that we stand strong in the face of forces attempting to weaken the laws designed to protect, preserve and restore, imperiled species. We hope you will join our mission critical work by becoming a Wildlife Defender today. To learn more, visit defenders.org.
Defenders Of Wildlife works on the ground, in the courts, and on Capitol Hill to protect and restore imperiled wildlife and habitats across North America.
