Did you know that prescribed fires are a great way to restore and maintain resilient grassland ecosystems? This ensures that biodiversity and habitat health are maintained while mitigating the impacts of climate change. For species that need healthy prairies, such as pollinators, Sharp-Tailed Grouse and Elk, prescribed fire can restore the open spaces they need to thrive.
This footage was collected in May 2024 at the Tall Grass Prairie and Aspen Parkland Prescribed Fire Training Exchange (TREX) in Stuartburn, Manitoba, hosted by NCC in partnership with the Canadian Prairies Prescribed Fire Exchange and The Nature Conservancy.
