What is the Congressional Review Act and what does it have to do with wildlife? Join Sr. Government Legislative Counsel, Chris Westfall, to find out!

Transcript:

The CRA is the Congressional Review Act. It’s a law that allows Congress to expedite their legislative processes, to repeal regulations that might protect wildlife or protect public lands. Defenders is focused on a lot of different regulations that the presidential administration is putting out through agencies. So, when the Department of the Interior protects public lands or the Fish and Wildlife Service does something for an endangered species that we care about. Then the Congress might find that controversial, and they can go through and try and peel back those regulations using the CRA. There are many energy, public lands, wildlife related rules that were finalized in the last few months that President Biden was in office. Using the CRA to peel back those environmental protections would be extremely damaging to wildlife. To learn more, go to defenders.org.

Defenders Of Wildlife works on the ground, in the courts, and on Capitol Hill to protect and restore imperiled wildlife and habitats across North America.
