A look back on a successful 2024!
Transcript:
2024 has been a historic year for Defenders Of Wildlife. Since taking the helm as President & CEO in August, I’ve been hard at work with the Defenders team to protect wildlife and critical habitat across the country.
On Capitol Hill, we remained steadfast in our efforts to safeguard the Endangered Species Act, defeating devastating bills, testifying before Congress and convening our allies on Capitol Hill. In the field, we finished our 700th electric fence project – helping landowners avoid conflicts with Grizzly Bears and other wildlife by securing attractants like livestock, chicken coops, beehives, gardens and garbage. And, we were instrumental in the designation of the Everglades to Gulf Conservation Area in Southwest Florida as the newest addition to the National Wildlife Refuge System.
We worked to have the Mojave Desert Tortoise uplisted as endangered under the California ESA. And launched our Biodiversity Law Center – a critical initiative created to protect wildlife and critical habitat through proactive science-based legal and policy strategies. We celebrated a finalized plan to reintroduce Grizzly Bears to their historic range in the North Cascades Ecosystem. And we continued to be the leaders for defending wildlife and innovating conservation science across the United States. Making headlines and waves for anti-wildlife politicians.
We are the last line of defense for wildlife and wild places because of your unwavering support. We thank you for all you do and hope we can count on you to help us achieve more victories for wildlife in the year ahead. From all of us at Defenders, happy holidays.
