Cuteness Overload: Black-footed Ferret Kits

Nearly four months old, black-footed ferret kits Aurora and Sedona spend most of their mornings at the Phoenix Zoo playing and weaseling their way into our hearts. These kits will soon reach adult size and stay in the breeding program to help with recovery of this endangered species. The Phoenix Zoo has been working in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Arizona Game & Fish Department on ferret recovery since 1991 and has produced over 500 kits. The Phoenix Zoo is one of six facilities that breeds black-footed ferrets for potential release to the wild as part of The Association of Zoos and Aquariums Black-footed Ferret Species Survival PlanĀ® breeding program.
