Monterey Bay Aquarium
We recommend going full-screen and smashing your face to your device to see the individual skin pixels amidst clouds of chromatophores dancing across the backs of these stumpy cuttlefish.
Stumpy cuttlefish are experts at camouflage, but they also use their LCD-like skin to dazzle, confuse and hypnotize potential predators and prey. The beginning of this video shows inter-cuttlefish communication with dark colors cast over the whole body, potentially males looking to taunt other cuttlefish angling on the females. On the closeup shots, watch for the “passing cloud” display happening on the mantle, the body behind the eyes/arms. 14/10 would watch again.
